In Year 5 this half term, we have been learning all about Viking Science. We have explored the diet of the Viking’s and thought about how they would have made and preserved their food. Last week we made our own butter by ‘churning’ double cream. We then added salt and left it in the fridge to harden. Earlier this week, we tried the butter on crackers. Some of us loved it: others did not! To further our learning in Science this week, we took part in a research project where we found out about microorganisms and their functions. We found out that they can be helpful, unhelpful, and harmful. We are going to use this knowledge to help us make more food over the coming weeks. Here are a few pictures of us tasting the butter that we made.
