7 February 2019
On 7th February, our newly elected WEC councillors, joined by WEC councillors from other local schools had an amazing afternoon meeting the Mayor of Reading. She spoke to the children about her role and asked how they would like to change their local area.
Our Palmer Parliament had prepared a list of questions for our members to take with them; they confidently asked some of these and listened well to the other children’s questions. They learnt that the life of a Mayor is very busy with a record 400 engagements in one year! In response to the Mayor’s question, our members said they would like to improve housing and raise funds for a school mini bus. The children came away inspired and ready to make changes for their futures!
