By Fatima, Year 6
Unfortunately due to current circumstances we couldn’t commemorate Remembrance Day this year as we usually would in a whole school service. However, myself and some of the other Year 6s worked with Miss Davies to record a virtual Service to pay our respects and educate the children of our school on the history and meaning of this day. We spoke about why it falls of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and we also learnt there were a few different coloured poppies to commemorate different victims of war. Brooke also read the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae.
In our bubbles we also all took part in a two minutes silence to reflect and pay our respects to those who have given their lives in past and on going conflicts.
Thank you everyone for watching our service this year.
