Many of Year 6 have returned to school with such a positive attitude and have begun the year with great motivation to succeed. It has been lovely hearing the children’s aspirations for the rest of the school year and discussing what they will do in order to achieve them. We have enjoyed finding out about their new topics for this half term. In Geography we have begun learning about our blue planet and all of the layers of our oceans. In Science we have started to look at the impact that Carl Linnaeus’ classifications system has had on our knowledge and understanding of animals and different species also in art, we have begun looking at Andy Warhol and POP art. Last week we created our own images in the style of Andy Warhol. We used simple repeated images, block backgrounds and contrasting colours. Have a look at some of the examples below:
