As part of our Year 4 Topic on potions, we have been having fun with lots of different science experiments.
First, we looked at the different states of matter - solids, liquids and gases. We then carried out a liquid speed investigation which saw us testing the time it took different liquids to travel down a ramp. We used this to draw conclusions about the viscosity of different liquids. We had lots of fun with the stop watches but we did get a bit impatient waiting for the ketchup to slide down!
Next, we carried out investigations into chemical reactions and melting points. In the first, we looked at what happened when we mixed vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, and whether different amounts would change the reaction we saw. In the second, we tested to see which temperature of water was the best for melting chocolate. Sadly, we weren't allowed to eat any.
We're looking forward to what other investigations we might have a chance to do in the rest of the term.
