Year 1 have had a fantastic start to the term! We spent our first day back enjoying building (and eating!) our own gingerbread houses as we were introduced to our new text ‘Hansel and Gretel’. The children have since been learning to retell the story and we have seen some incredible presentation from many of the children writing the story this week. We have moved on to some really tricky maths this week, as we have been learning to compare statements. The children have enjoyed using their resources to calculate each statement before comparing them using the < > = symbols. In science, we have started learning all about animals, with a particular focus on mammals this week. Please ask your children about this – they now know some interesting facts about them! Next week we will be learning more about birds and reptiles!
